Head of Global Banking and Advisory & Head of Sustainable and Positive Impact Finance, Société Générale
Pierre Palmieri was appointed Head of Global Banking and Advisory in July 2019
Global Banking and Advisory combines the wholesale coverage for SG Group clients as well as all the financing and advisory activities of the Corporate and Investment Banking on a worldwide basis. It is organized around one coverage department and five business divisions: Investment Banking, Structured Finance, Natural Resources and Infrastructure, Asset-Backed Products and Syndication.
Pierre Palmieri was previously Deputy Head (from 2008 to 2012) and Head of the Global Finance Division (from 2012 to 2019).
Prior to that, he was Global Co-Head of the Natural Resources and Energy Finance Department.
Pierre Palmieri started his career at Société Générale Corporate and Investment Banking in 1987 in the Export Finance Department. He then became Head of a Finance Engineering team. In 1994, he joined the Commodity Finance Department and was appointed Head of Structured Commodity Finance in 2001. In 2003, his responsibilities were extended to Mining Finance and to Trade Finance in 2005.
He has been a member of Société Générale Group Management Committee since January 2011, and a member of the SG Corporate and Investment Banking Executive Committee since 2012.
He is or has been Board member of several companies, including SGBT (Luxembourg), Rosbank (Russia), SG Brazil, and Gaselys (a former JV between Engie and SG).
He is also leading the sustainable and positive impact finance offering for SG’s wholesale businesses.
